Could the George Floyd Situation been Avoided?

20 for 2020 SPECIAL Edition

Twenty for twenty twenty is a newsletter sent to 20 people in preparation for the 2020 Presidential election with the hopes they will share with others. This is the sixteenth edition. It is a SPECIAL EDITION worthy of action.

It is very easy to forget. Forget important things. Forget Values. To get caught up in preserving the status quo, if we have it good and to look no further. This type of behavior can no longer continue.

We must focus on what our country, what America is really all about. Why and How it became a free sovereign nation. America is about Liberty and Justice for all. It is about brotherhood. It is about the Grace of God. It was founded by prayer. Great prayer. Remembering what I have to say was an answered prayer:

Do you remember the incident in Minneapolis prior to the George Floyd trial whereby a young woman from Australia was shot by a Minneapolis police officer. There was much outrage. It made the International News. A large settlement was paid to the woman’s family and Officer Mohamad Noor was later convicted of third degree murder.

A closer look will reveal that:

The woman was cautioned by her boyfriend not to call the police.

The 911 operator did not tell the woman to stay inside and wait for the police.

The police weren’t even going to go to the woman’s door. They were set to leave.

The woman STARTLED!!!! the officer.

The police chief was on vacation and didn’t hurry back.

The district attorney who I know to be aggressive and non responsive may not have even talked to Officer Noor to ask him about the incident.

Racist overtones were inferred

There was great sympathy for the woman and great detail about her life.

A large settlement was paid before establishment of what went wrong.

There was no grand jury.

There was little investigation.

The unusual charge of third degree murder was proposed. a) Whoever, without intent to effect the death of any person, causes the death of another by perpetrating an act eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life, is guilty of murder in the third degree and may be sentenced to imprisonment for not more than 25 years.

The officer was convicted.

The officer is now in prison with little support.

The district attorney got drunk after a meeting with police, slammed on a trunk of a car and made a quip about being startled.

The district attorney decided to go to alcoholism treatment while staying at home.

The district attorney came back to work, after having his privacy valued.

George Floyd incident happened.

The district attorney was proud to announce that his office is one of the only that has convicted a cop of murder.

The attorney general’s office is now handling the case.

Officer Noor/Former Officer Noor is still in prison.

The district attorney is free and working.

I wonder how the police are doing?

I know I had nightmares.

I know I almost forgot.

I know this is worth remembering.

I know this demands further investigation.

I know justice doesn’t just end at the end of the trial.

I ask for your prayers.

I ask for your voices.

I cry out for justice.

Officer Noor is my brother.

He is your brother too.
