Why 20 for 2020 and What is 20 for 2020?
June 2019
Like many Americans, I am terribly concerned about our nation and the direction it is headed with respect to both issues and civil discourse and general humanity and common consideration.
In 2016, I wrote the “Unofficial So Cal Trump Report” and actively promulgated that then candidate Trump had written a response to my letter and information on a bad drug, Bristol Myers Squibb’s Abilify. Mr. Trump’s campaign was the only group of about 20 or so politicians that responded so I decided on that basis to put my support behind him.
This election I will not be getting behind a candidate but rather simply trying to educate my fellow Americans some of whom are candidates on the real issues.
I am calling this project 20 for 2020 and you have been selected as a recipient. I do hope you will take the time to read and share the newsletters. They will be brief but important.
I am a researcher and statistician by trade and a concerned citizen by spirit.
I also encourage you to be a voice and to pray for our nation. We have gone astray and the government and healthcare are dragging us down.
In 2016 the Chinese government commented that the U.S. Presidential Election represented a breakdown of democracy because it presented two candidates that many people disliked. In 2020 I may not vote.
I have always considered it irresponsible or un-American to not vote. I now see a third line of reasoning: some candidates are not worthy of the honor of the office.
I decided that the best way I could participate was to use my skills and knowledge as a researcher and write about the key issues facing us as a nation and pray for our country.
In October of 2019, I incorporated Catholic Social Teachings into my writings and find they provide a useful moral framework for developing just solutions and that with the disintegration of values and moral principles in government and society there is a need for a return to explicit moral principles.
If we understand where we are, see how we got there, and have a framework for just solutions and allow reason to prevail, by the grace of God we have hope for a better tomorrow.
We are a government of, by, and for the people. We all make a difference. We are one nation under God. Let us each in our own way pray, work, and speak up for a better America and a better world.
Come November I will probably do what Former First Lady Barbara Bush did, I will write in a candidate. I am a writer after all.
If you have any questions or wish to be removed from the list, you may call me at XXX-XXX-XXXX or write me at the address listed above.
I thank you for your time and attention.
God bless you and God bless America,
Susan Lein
